Setting Up Your Business Locations
A location is an office, shop or branch your business works from. Each location has its own address, time zone, business hours, booking rules and coverage, so a business with more than one branch can run each on its own schedule. This guide covers adding a location and filling in its details.
Before you start
- You need permission to manage settings. Without it, the Locations menu item is not shown.
- Have the street address and the time zone of the location ready. Business hours are enforced in the time zone you choose.
Steps
- Open Settings, then Locations. The page is titled Locations & Service Areas and lists your locations under Business Locations. Each row shows the address, time zone, hours and coverage.
- Select Add Location. If you have none yet, select Add Your First Location.
- Under Address Information, enter the Location Name, for example Main Office or Downtown Branch, then the address. Choose the Time Zone.
- Under Business Hours, set Start Day and End Day (Sunday through Saturday), then Opening Time and Closing Time.
- Under Booking Policies, set:
- Appointment Buffer (minutes): the travel time kept between appointments.
- Minimum Appointment Length (minutes): the shortest appointment that can be booked.
- Default Job Duration (minutes): used to fill in the scheduled end time.
- Customer Change Window (hours): how long before an appointment customers can reschedule or cancel.
- Minimum Booking Notice (hours): how soon a customer booking online may ask for a visit. Set 0 to allow same-day emergency work.
- Booking Horizon (days): how far ahead customers may book.
- Require payment authorization at booking, if you want it.
- Under Coverage, enter the Service Radius (miles) and decide whether Show this location in the marketplace stays on. See the service areas guide for how coverage decides where a booking goes.
- Select Create Location. Select Cancel to leave without saving.
To change a location later, open Settings, then Locations, and select the edit (pencil) icon on its row. The form has the same sections; select Update Location to save.
Tips
- Once a location is saved, its edit page has Holidays and Exceptions links at the top, for closing days and one-off hours. See the holidays and exceptions guides.
- Turning off Show this location in the marketplace only hides the location from customers browsing the marketplace. It keeps its schedule, its team and its jobs, and bookings sent to it still arrive. A Hidden from marketplace label shows on its row.
- The minimum notice, booking horizon and appointment buffer are the same settings that shape the hours offered when customers pick a time online. The online booking availability guide explains how.
If something goes wrong
- If the form will not save, read the message at the top. The location name and time zone are required, and the address must be a valid U.S. address.
- If a location is missing from the list, reload Settings, then Locations. Only locations for your business are shown.
- If you cannot see Locations under Settings, ask a user with permission to manage settings to open it for you.
