Holidays and One-Off Hours for a Location

Holidays and exceptions tell ServiceVisit when a location is closed or keeps different hours, so work is not scheduled or offered to customers on those days. Holidays are closure days. Exceptions replace the usual hours for one date, or close the location for it. Each location has its own list.

Before you start

  • You need permission to manage settings.
  • Pick the location first: open Settings, then Locations, and use the Holidays or Exceptions link on its row. The edit page has the same two links at the top, and the pages link to each other.

Steps for holidays

  1. Open the Holidays page for the location. The title shows the location name.
  2. To add the usual days, use Quick Add Holidays: Add US Federal Holidays (10 holidays) or Add All Common US Holidays (14 holidays). They add holidays for the current year and the next. Dates that already exist are skipped, and a message tells you how many were added.
  3. For your own closure, use Add Custom Holiday. Enter Holiday Name and Date, optionally add Notes (Optional), and select Add Holiday.
  4. Tick Recurring (repeat annually on this date) if the closure falls on the same date every year.
  5. The Upcoming Closures box lists the next few. All Holidays lists everything configured, with a trash icon on each row to delete it after you confirm.

Steps for exceptions

  1. Open the Exceptions page, titled Location Exceptions.
  2. Choose the Date.
  3. Tick Closed all day to close the location, or leave it unticked and set Opens at and Closes at. Opening must be before closing.
  4. Optionally add a Reason (optional).
  5. Tick Repeat annually on this date only for dates that fall on the same day each year. For holidays that move each year, such as Labor Day, leave it unticked and add each year's date.
  6. Select Save exception. Saving an existing date updates its exception.
  7. Saved exceptions lists each one. Use Edit to change it or Remove to delete it. After removal, the location's usual hours and holidays apply again.

Tips

  • An exception replaces the usual location hours for that date. Holidays still close the location, and technician availability still applies.
  • The online booking availability guide explains how closed days and hours affect the times customers can pick.
  • Use a holiday for a full closure and an exception for early closes, late opens or a one-day change.

If something goes wrong

  • If Add Holiday says a holiday already exists for the date, edit or delete the existing one.
  • If an exception will not save, check that you chose a date and that opening is before closing.
  • If a customer sees no times on a date, check that date's holiday, exception, technician availability, minimum booking notice and booking horizon.
