Your Day and Your Assigned Jobs

A technician, or a sole operator who does the work personally, can run a whole day from a phone: find the jobs assigned to you, clock in, tell ServiceVisit when you set off, and arrive on site. This guide covers the first part of that day. The next two guides cover doing the work and finishing the visit with payment.

Before you start

Every plan includes these pages. Seeing the Jobs list needs permission to view jobs. If your role can view only the jobs assigned to you, the list shows just those; a role that can view all jobs sees every job. The Timesheets item in the menu needs permission to track time. If an item is missing from your menu, your role does not include that permission, so ask the person who manages your team.

Steps

  1. Open Jobs in the main menu. On a phone, each job appears as a tappable card showing the title, status, customer, Property address, job number and owner. On a wider screen the same jobs appear in a table with the columns Job, Customer, Owner, Status, Urgency and Updated.
  2. Narrow the list with the buttons along the top: All, Unscheduled, Unassigned, Scheduled, In Progress and Completed. Completed shows the last 30 days. The Source buttons (All Sources, Marketplace, Internal) filter by where the job came from.
  3. Tap a job to open it. Use Previous and Next under the list to move between pages.
  4. Open Timesheets in the main menu. In the box headed Start your day, choose Clock in. Clocking in marks the start of your working day and does not start travel time.
  5. When you have a visit coming up, a box headed Next stop appears. It names the work order, the scheduled time and a link to the work order. Choose On my way when you set off. The box then reads On your way and travel time is running.
  6. Choose Arrive when you reach the Property. Travel time stops and time on site starts.
  7. You can also arrive from the work order itself. Open it and look for the box headed Here yet? (or On your way once you have set off), then choose Arrive. Once the work order is In Progress this box no longer appears, because starting work already counts as arriving.
  8. For lunch or other breaks, use Start break and End break in the working-day box. When your day is finished, choose Clock out.

Tips

  • If you work several visits in a day, a work order that has more than one visit shows which one this is, for example "Visit 2 of 3".
  • The Timesheets page also shows total time for the day, which work orders have time and which assigned work orders are missing time. See the time tracking guides linked from this article for corrections and approval.
  • Someone with permission to assign jobs can use Assign owner or Change owner on a job card or row.

If something goes wrong

If the Jobs list says "You don't have any jobs yet.", nothing is assigned to you, or you have the wrong filter selected. Choose All and clear the Source filter. If "No jobs match the filters you've applied." appears, remove a filter. If you cannot see Next stop, make sure you have clocked in and are not on a break, and that a visit is scheduled for you. If the Jobs menu item is missing, ask your account owner to check your role.
