Tracking Your Time Through the Day

The Timesheets page is a technician's page for the day. It shows whether you are clocked in, the next stop on your schedule, the total time recorded, which work orders have time and which assigned work orders have none. This guide covers clocking in and out, taking a break, marking travel and arrival, and stopping or pausing a timer on a work order.

Before you start

  • You need the track-time capability. Without it Timesheets does not appear in the sidebar.
  • Clocking in starts your working day. It does not start travel time.
  • Travel and arrival controls appear only when you are clocked in, are not on a break, and have a next scheduled visit.

Steps

  1. Open Timesheets in the sidebar. The top panel reads Start your day.
  2. Select Clock in when your day begins. The panel changes to You are clocked in and shows the time you clocked in.
  3. For a break, select Start break. The panel shows when the break began. Select End break to come back.
  4. When your next visit is shown under Next stop, select On my way as you set off. The panel changes to On your way and travel time runs.
  5. On arrival, select Arrive. Travel time ends and time on site starts.
  6. On the work order, select Start Work on its execute page when you begin. The Time panel there shows Active with the elapsed time, On site since and Working since.
  7. Use Take a break to pause a work order's timer; the panel then says Work is paused, and Resume work continues it. Stop this time ends all of the time still running on that work order.
  8. On the Timesheets page, Stop & save on the Timer Active banner stops the running timer.
  9. When you are done for the day, select Clock out.
  10. Use the arrows at the top of the page, or Today, to look at another day.

Tips

  • The summary cards show Total Time Today, Work Orders with Time and Assigned Work Orders Missing Time. A work order with no time has an Add Time button that opens its execute page.
  • Only one timer runs at a time. If time is running for another work order, Start Work shows a box to tick, Switch my active work to this work order, and the timer panel offers Switch to this work order. Switching stops the earlier segment.
  • The Time panel has a Start time button for the case where nothing started by itself. Normally time starts when you travel, arrive or begin work.
  • My time trends shows approved working time for the last 30 days against the 30 before, how close scheduled visits were to the time actually spent on site, and how many segments were corrected or flagged.

If something goes wrong

  • If On my way does not appear, check that you are clocked in and not on a break, and that you have a next scheduled visit that day.
  • If the timer panel says No time is running when you are working, select Start time, or add the time by hand as described in the guide on correcting time.
  • If a message says Time needing changes, a manager rejected that day's time. Open the work date and correct it.
