Publish a Service

ServiceVisit lets you control whether a service is visible to customers. A new service starts unpublished, and publishing it makes it visible on the surfaces customers use. You would publish once the service is ready to be booked. On the service's page, Offer online publishes it. If the service is not ready, the page lists what is missing and offers Finish setting it up instead.

Stop offering online unpublishes the service and withdraws it from those customer-facing surfaces. Your staff can still book it, so you can stop taking requests for a service without losing the ability to schedule it yourself.

Publishing changes who can see a service, not what it contains. Creating a service and editing one are separate actions, and a service you have withdrawn from the catalog is withdrawn from everywhere, which is a different step from unpublishing it.

The same permission covers putting plans and packages in front of customers. Publishing makes that version of a plan or package available to propose, and retiring one stops new proposals while customers who already bought are unaffected.

Sending a proposal delivers it to the customer, who reviews it and accepts it, which records their acceptance of the agreement. You can resend a proposal, or withdraw it, which asks for a reason that is kept in its history. If the sales tax for the customer's address changes after you sent a proposal, the customer cannot accept it at the old price. You reissue a new proposal with the corrected tax, and the old one is marked as replaced.

When the customer accepts, ServiceVisit creates the package purchase or the service-plan enrollment together with its billing schedule. If creating it does not finish, it is retried automatically and you can retry it yourself. A sent proposal that passes its expiry date expires on its own.
