Reverse a Charge

Reversing a charge takes back a line without erasing it. Choose Reverse beside the line, on the work order or on a draft estimate; the button is offered only for charges that can be reversed. On a work order, the original line is marked as reversed and a reversal line is added that offsets it, so both remain visible. The reversal carries the same taxability as the charge it takes back.

A charge can be reversed only while the work is still outstanding; once the work order has been concluded, or if the line is locked, the reversal is refused. Draft estimates support the same action, leaving the charge visible and crediting it.

Use it when something was charged by mistake and the record should show the correction. It is a different decision from fixing a quantity, which is why it is a separate action from editing lines.
